Men's Mental Health

The term mental health is often misunderstood and used to refer to mental health conditions. World Health Organisation says that mental health is a state of wellbeing and refers to the health of the mind. This includes your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. Mental health is an essential part of your overall health and contributes to your ability to think clearly, interact with other people, maintain relationships, and live and enjoy life.1

Good mental health leads to increased creativity, learning abilities and positive social interactions. It also allows you to cope well with normal life stresses, work productively, and contribute to your community.

Mental health is complex and can be affected by biological, social, economic, and psychological factors. Every person is unique. It is normal for you to experience a range of emotions during your life, depending on your circumstances. Even if you are not currently experiencing a mental health disorder, your mental wellbeing might not be at its best. People who feel well could also sometimes be diagnosed with a mental health issue.

It is extremely important to remind yourself that even though you might not have a mental health problem, you need to make sure that you are feeling well and able to be open with other people.

Sometimes mental health problems can compromise your wellbeing. A mental health problem may interfere with different aspects of your life.
